Finlayson to open dozens of shops in China
In addition to concept stores and shop-in-shops, the license agreement opens the door to hundreds of other stores for Finlayson.
The Finland-based textile manufacturer signed an extensive agreement with A-Fontane, a textile company from Hong Kong. The two companies will collaborate in designing the collections that will be available in China.
In the coming years, mainland China and Hong Kong will have at least 41 Finlayson concept stores and 21 shop-in-shops. Finlayson products can also become available in hundreds of other stores in the region.
According to Finlayson, the collaboration is one of the most significant agreements signed by Finnish design companies in the recent years.
Finlayson has had license partners in Japan, and its products have landed on the Korean market.
“This is a remarkable opening for us in the Asian market,” notes Risto Voutilainen, COO at Finlayson. “In line with our export strategy, we are able to expand the visibility of our brand together with a respected local partner. Finlayson’s Nordic style and brand will be strongly present in the new stores.”
A-Fontane is a multinational company operating in various countries. In its main markets, Hong Kong and China, it is known as a manufacturer and distributor of high-quality home textiles. It boasts dozens of stores in Hong Kong and hundreds in China.
The agreement is valid until 2029. In addition to the now announced contract, Finlayson is currently having talks about possible partnerships with several Hong Kongese and Chinese manufacturers and distributors.
