Finland amongst the top ten countries to do business

Finland is amongst the top ten countries in the world to do business. The Economist Intelligence Unit’s (EIU) Country Forecast ranks Finland as 9th best country to do business in 2014-2018. Finland was ranked as number 6 in the last forecast covering years 2009-2013.

The report notes that because of Europe’s debt crisis has impacted on political and economic stability and financing availability, the European Union countries in general remain some way off the top of the EIU’s business environment rankings.

According to EIU, Singapore has maintained its place as the best country to do business, Switzerland is again in second place and Hong Kong in the third place. Finland had a total score of 8.16 whereas Singapore had 8.56.

EIU’s business rankings model measures the quality of business environment in 82 countries. The model is based on ten criteria including political and the macroeconomic environment, market opportunities, policy towards free enterprise and competition. Each category contains a number of indicators that are assessed by the EIU for the last five years and the next five years.
