Finnish maker of see-through lenses for Augmented Reality, Dispelix, has successfully closed a 1.7 million-euro funding round. The capital boost comes from Lifeline Ventures and VTT Ventures.

Dispelix makes thin AR displays with broad field of view, matching to and exceeding what is available today,” states Antti Sunnari, CEO and co-founder. “Our lenses are manufactured in large quantities and have price points that allow mass-market consumer products, unlike existing technologies.”

Facilitating the creation of immersive Augmented Reality experiences, these lenses can be incorporated into products ranging from high-end professional use to sports and leisure.

“Previously, Augmented Reality optics have been too bulky to wear, too costly to embed in products and too difficult to manufacture in large volumes,” says Jyrki Saarinen, chairman of the board, professor and optics entrepreneur. “Dispelix is the next generation that enables real growth in the industry.”

The company was recently spun out from VTT Technical Research Center of Finland. The related science and research in optics and display manufacturing technology has been developed since 2011.
