Disney adapts Kaurismäki film for new comic
The award-winning film by Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki has been adapted into a Donald Duck comic, known as “The Duck Without a Past”.
The Finnish-language comic is created by Donald Duck masters Kari Korhonen and Giorgio Cavazzano, reports Yle News. Korhonen wrote the text and Italian illustrator Cavazzano illustrated the final panels.
“It’s hard to imagine a bigger star in the Disney world than Giorgio,” Korhonen tells Yle.
According to Yle, rumour has it that Kaurismäki is satisfied with the end result. He’s known to rarely give press interviews.
Kaurismäki is one of Finland’s most awarded directors and screenwriters. The Man Without a Past is his most praised piece; it is a Cannes Grand Prix winner, and was also Finland’s nominee at the Academy Awards in 2003.
