Finnish national airline Finnair has stepped up to the podium at the Best Travel Awards 2016 and the 2016 World Traveller Awards in China.

First up, the airline was recognised for having the Best Business Class at the Best Travel Awards 2016 event by China’s tourism industry. The awards have been distributed for the past 11 years, recognising tourism-related enterprises and organisations which make significant contributions to China’s tourism industry.

“We are very proud of this special recognition given to us by tourism media in China,” says Robert Öhrnberg, general manager for Greater China at Finnair. “The award proves that our commitment to the Chinese market is strong and based on reliability, genuineness and Nordic style.”

Meanwhile, the airline also nabbed this year’s Best Inflight Catering Airline at the World Traveller Awards 2016. The annual ceremony is organised by World Traveller Media in China. Following collaborations this year with chefs Steven Liu from China, Sasu Laukkonen from Finland and Jaakko Sorsa based in Hong Kong, next year Finnair will be serving a menu from Eero Vottonen, Finland’s candidate for the 2017 Bocuse d’Or competition.

“The importance of high-quality meals for the overall passenger experience cannot be overstated,” says Maarit Keränen, head of inflight service at Finnair. “When co-operating with top chefs, we always stay true to our principles of quality, creativity and freshness and work hard to provide delicious meals for passengers.”

Finnair currently flies six direct routes in Greater China.
