Finnish building and industry systems services provider Caverion is to deliver tunnel technology for the 912 metre-long Tunnel Lambach on the B1 in Austria. The tunnel is part of the construction project that will enable traffic to bypass the community of Lambach.

The Finnish company signed a contract with the Land of Upper Austria for the tunnel project’s design and engineering, as well as management and execution.

Valued at approximately 4.7 million euros, the contract covers such aspects as electricity, information and communication services, automation and ventilation and air conditioning.

“By providing these tunnel technologies, Caverion will contribute to the safety and security as well as an eased flow of traffic in the bi-directional tunnel Lambach,” says Manfred Simmet, senior vice president & CEO, Division Austria.

Preparation is to commence on the project this month, with the construction work itself kicking off next year.

Work is scheduled to be completed in December 2016.
