Finnish investment company Butterfly Ventures has established a new fund, Butterfly Venture Fund III, together with US- and Sweden-based Capital A Partners.

“We met with the Capital A Partner’s shareholders about a year ago,” tells CEO of Butterfly Ventures Matti Kanninen. “We noticed that we had similar ideas considering early stage investments, strategy and fund management. After teaming up for our joint Conexbird investment, the co-operation worked so well that we decided to take it even further.”

The new joint fund’s target size is 24 million euros and focuses on hardware and deep tech companies whose businesses are built around unique technology that is protected and not easily imitated.

The fund will be investing in seed stage companies with high growth potential. Research-based innovations and university co-operation are one of the special focus areas.

With the new fund, the Butterfly Ventures will have nearly 40 million euros under management.
