Brella raises EUR 1.2 million in funding

Finnish networking application for business events Brella has raised 1.2 million euros in private equity and has established a subsidiary in the US.

The lead investor was Vendep Capital, while the remainder of the funding came from international angel investors based in the US, France and Finland.

Brella will use the funding towards expansion in the US, its main market, where it has also established a subsidiary in San Fransisco. The company will also look to hire more product developers, and sales and marketing staff in Finland.

The networking application was founded in 2016, after the founders saw an opportunity in making networking more effective at events.

“Events have been the best way to bring together people and ideas for thousands of years, yet until now no one has created a service that could intelligently analyse event visitors and their needs in advance, making it easier to find the best contacts among all the people attending the event,” explains Markus Kauppinen, CEO of Brella.

Today Brella is used in more than 30 countries and its clients include Slush, Samsung, Microsoft and TechCrunch.
