Finnish company Aurelia Turbines has been awarded the Perpetuum 2017 Energy Efficiency Prize at the annual Deutschen Unternehmensinitiative Energieeffizienz (DENEFF) conference in Germany.

Aurelia Turbines were chosen from 250 organisations at the fourth annual DENEFF award ceremony.

According to the jury, the company is a great example of showing that not everything has to be re-invented, moreover that modern technology and solutions should also be combined intelligently.

“For us, winning the Perpetuum prize is a magnificent recognition from a prominent expert panel,” says Matti Malkamäki, CEO. “Achieving first place shows that the energy efficiency of our gas turbines stand up to a broad comparison, even with the innovations of large companies.”

In addition, Aurelia Turbines was selected from over 500 growth companies as a finalist for the international Start Up Energy Transition Tech Festival, which will be held later this month.

The company’s turbines are based on its own innovations and also utilise technology developed at the Lappeenranta University of Technology.

The competitive advantage of the gas turbines is their exceptionally high efficiency. An output of one turbine is equivalent to nearly 200 detached houses’ annual consumption. The production of the gas turbines is set to commence in Lappeenranta later this year.
