Augmented Climbing Wall

Aalto University gaming research lab spinoff Augmented Climbing Wall provides a gaming platform for bouldering walls.

Finnish startup Augmented Climbing Wall combines projection mapping and camera-based body tracking technology to create gamified exercises – for training as well as for fun.

Simply put, the projection mapping creates an augmented reality (AR) on a bouldering wall, while the camera tracks down the movement of the climber. The interactive projection adjusts to the climber’s motion, enabling a wide variety of game and exercise modes, such as Climball and Augmented problems as well as regular route projection.

The recent video of Climball has gathered staggering popularity on the social media, topping over 26 million views on Facebook.
