Innovation Award inspires to develop

The Finnish Chemicals Industry granted the Finnish Chemical Industry Innovation Award 2010 to research groups from Orion Diagnostica and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. The award was granted to Orion Clean Card PRO, a new surface hygiene test, which combines different sciences flexibly. The test is fast, reliable and easily applicable, which secure its significant commercial potential.

The surface hygiene test has been developed in collaboration between Orion Diagnostica and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. The unique chemical test, which is intended for surface hygiene evaluation and monitoring can be used for instance in food industry, restaurant, shop and hospital working environments. The new manufacturing technology courageously combines traditional chemical manufacture with modern printing technology.

The Finnish Chemical Industry Innovation Award, which is presented every second year, is an acknowledgement of remarkable innovations in the field of chemical industry. This year’s winner was already the eleventh award-winning innovation selected by the Chemical Industry’s Scientific Advisory Board. The award winners selected throughout the years represent the diversity within the chemical industry, and the endless innovation possibilities. Previous awards were granted for instance for biofuel solutions, proprietary medicine developed by the pharmaceutical industry and the development of different top products in the field of diagnostics.
