Finnish dental care enters the digital era
Healthy mouth is an important part of a person's general health, and it's good to have a dental check-up every once in a while. So, I decided to book myself in. Well before the check-up appointment the centralized information system sent an sms to my phone, reminding me to arrive to the consultation at the right time.
In the spring I then visited the dentist. The personnel welcomed me kindly, and guided me to take a seat in the dental chair. I realized having arrived to a true digital era clinic, where latest technologies and knowhow were well utilized.
The treatment room was equipped with a Planmeca treatment unit, which had an integrated LCD screen and intraoral digital imaging system. The dental nurse recorded the results of the dentist's check-up to a digital patient database, and at the same time I also noticed that the x-ray featuring my teeth was immediately viewable in the patient database.
In my opinion the best practical applications of the Finnish technology industry are at their best exactly these kinds of digital era innovations, which make work and every day errands easier. Health technology increases patient safety when it is utilized by professionals.
My treatment contact with the Finnish dental care continues, and I am already eagerly awaiting for my next appointment. Even the queuing situation can be checked from an online system, which my personal online banking account gives me a convenient access to.
While waiting for my next dental appointment I can already subscribe to an sms reminder of the next time I'm supposed to change my toothbrush!
