Clean Technology and Green Technology
But is the technological level of products and services of today sufficient from the viewpoint of economy? Or should we, for the sake of the ecosystem’s wellbeing, define criteria for products or services falling into the category of clean technology, or green technology? I think we should. What can be sensed is so-called green wash. Every product is soon clean; at least when the producers are concerned.
From the viewpoint of global warming and the wellbeing of the ecosystem, the recession has been both positive and negative. It has reduced consumption and traveling, and consequently for instance energy consumption. The decline in energy consumption, brought on by the recession, will probably prove to be short-lived.
On the other hand, at the same time investments for developing energy efficiency and producing renewable energies have decreased. This has long-term effect on global carbon emissions.
Before the recession hit I believed that the climate question would be so important, that the recession would not have an impact on it. However, I learnt that I was wrong. Concerned and promising words spoken out during the upswing have most often remained unclaimed.
I believe that in the future the most successful companies will be those that are able to show a good example of social responsibility. Companies are expected to be social forerunners. It is important that the business environment supports companies, which can prove their ability to act as forerunners in developing clean technology and green technology.
