Bringing fresh blood into Finnish innovation
Finland’s future success is increasingly much based on innovation driven economic growth. This forces us to carry out amendments that further improve our knowhow, enhances the development of new ideas and operating models, and strengthens our competitiveness and productivity. The Aalto University, inaugurated at the turn of the year, and other modernization projects of our innovation sys-tem have raised also international interest. But there is still plenty to do.
The crucial challenge of the Finnish innovation system is weak internationalization. Finland is not able to attract enough international experts, and at the same time, not enough growth and internationally driven companies are being born. Various actions and encouragement are needed, as well as fresh blood and attitude shaping.
Finland should take prompt action to compose an attraction strategy for promoting employment-based immigration and employment in Finland. A positive environment for immigration, multiculturalism and equality needs to be promoted in every possible way. Finland cannot afford to close doors from international experts. While the population is ageing, we are in desperate need of finding new working hands. In the same way we also need these people’s ideas and enthusiasm for entrepreneurship. The challenge is shared with entire Europe.
