Youth bring out their voice in Korpilampi
Kuva Sini TuominenYouth Korpilampi 09-seminar, which was held on Tuesday had about 260 participants. The enthusiastic youngsters attended workshops, which were organized by a group of Team Academics. The workshops activated vivacious conversation. The young people were very enthusiastic to express their views and got a chance to have their voice heard.
The outcomes of the workshops were published in the afternoon on the same day. The issues, which were brought up were various. They ranged from practical learning methods in secondary level institutions and work practicals, to the diversification of sports for youth, prevention of mental health problems, parenting guidance for parents, and increasing the role of speaking and creative self-expression in education. The youth also made a wish to be given more possibilities for small group work in schools. The youngsters also commented each others opinions and expressed their own viewpoints during the workshops.
The seminar itself was received positively. 19-year old Laura Aro from Turku enjoyed the seminar. She appreciated the chance to listen to the opinions of other young peop
le and at same time learning more about them, as well as herself. - Independent from the location, the youth has similar opinions, says Aro. She considers a seminar such as this a great chance for the youth to be heard. Also the sizes of the work groups were well managed. In Aro’s opinion a group of 12 people formed a suitably small group, giving a chance for everyone to have their say.
The head secretary of the youth section of the Ministry of Education in Finland, Tuomas Kurttila is convinced that the Finnish youth will become great future leaders for the country. - The reasoning was very high quality and thorough, comments Kurttila about the outcome of the workshops.
