Young computer enthusiasts take over Helsinki Hartwall Arena

International youth computer festival Assembly started today at Helsinki Hartwall Arena. The event which is now held for the 18th time, will gather together about 5500 young computer enthusiasts from all over the world.

Assembly is one of the world's best known and biggest youth computer and media art competitions. The event will bring together young enthusiasts from all over the world, giving them a chance to measure out their skills and meet other young people who are interested in the creative possibilities of computers.


The four-day event will have a programme running around-the-clock. The long weekend will host a range of competitions on programming and computer games with prizes of a total value of over 45,000 Euro.The event's games competition will rank the Finnish champions of Peliliiga (Games League). The winners will represent Finland in the finals at the World Cyber Games (WCG) event, where the best players worldwide meet each other.

The Assembly participants will also be offered a variety of seminars, concerts, robot war and lots of other programme.

Also those who are not able to join in, will get a chance to enjoy the event through broadcasts on the event's official TV channel, Assembly TV. The broadcasts will be sent right from the event's centre point. Assembly TV is accessible via the Internet.
