WinWinD kick-starts wind turbine factory in Hamina
winwindWinwind Ltd's brand new wind turbine factory in Hamina is about to kick-start its engines. The actual production will begin this week.
In the beginning the wind turbines will be manufactured by 30 employees. Administrative staff included the factory employs about 50 people. With a production capacity of 160 units per year, this time next year the factory is expected to employ up to 250 people.
The four first turbines will be built for Hamina's wind park. Orders have been received both in Finland and neighboring countries within the Baltic region.
Founded in 2000, Winwind Ltd. supplies one and three megawatt wind turbines based on low speed technology.
The head office of Winwind Ltd. is located in Helsinki. Production takes place in Finland and India, where the company opened its Chennai factory in the beginning of September.
The company orders components from Finnish companies such as Moventas Wind Ltd. and ABB Finland. The protective skins for the turbine's spinners are made by Finnish plastic manufacturer Ekin Muovi in Pieksämäki.
