Viking Line, National Land Survey Finland and Dextra receive Quality Finland 2009 awards
Lehtikuva / Jussi Nukari Viking Line scored top points in all the evaluation areas of the Quality Finland Award criteria.Viking Line Abp has won this year's Finnish Quality Award -competition. The award, which is given annually by Excellence Finland (Suomen Laatukeskus), is presented to organizations operating in Finland as recognition of excellence in efforts to improve the quality and competitiveness of these operations. Viking Line was awarded the First Prize in the Major Companies and Large Business Units category. The company also won the Travel Industry Award, which was presented for the first time this year.
The National Land Survey of Finland (NLS), which celebrated its 375th anniversary last year, received the Finnish Quality Award in the category for public sector and non-profit corporations. The first prize in the category for small companies went to Dextra Medical Centre. The award was granted for the consistent work carried out to improve and develop the organization.
The Quality Innovation of the Year -award in the category of Major Companies and Large Business Units was given to STX Finland Oy, which designed and built the world's largest cruise ship, Oasis of the Seas. The winner in quality innovations of SMBs category was Proactum Oy with its brand new business model, which is based on combining free source codes and tailor-made software.
The winner in the micro-companies category was NatureGate (Luontoportti Oy) with its online service www.luontoportti.fi, which helps in identifying wild plants, butterflies and birds. The winner of this category's public sector participants was Helsinki City Youth Department with its online youth-work service Netari, which operates already in 23 municipalities in Finland and has a valuable purpose in making contact with youth on the Internet.
Viking Line celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. The company has transported over 169 million passengers since then, at the same time providing an efficient transport system for trade and industry.
