Valmet Automotive builds a Finnish electric car

Valmet Automotive The Valmet Automotive plant in Uusikaupunki.
Valmet Automotive has teamed up with Fortum in order to develop a Finnish electric car. The partners intend to present their concept car at Geneva car show next spring.

The CEO of Valmet Automotive, Ilpo Korhonen says that the intention is not to turn the new city car into a brand of its own.

The planned maximum speed of the electric car is 120 km/h, which makes it suitable also for motorways.

According to Korhonen the Finnish electric car will be developed as far as its manufacture, if there is demand. However, the basic principle of the concept car is to help building up the cooperational network required for manufacturing electric cars, to find solutions suitable for further development and to create brand new models for business operations.

Fortum is a well-suited partner for Valmet Automotive since the energy company is currently in the process of developing for instance its own charging point-network for electric cars.
