A top Finnish chef and a judge in Master Chef programme, Tomi Björck, is expanding his restaurant operations to Sweden. Björck and his business partner Matti Wikberg own in Helsinki a top-class Asian restaurant Farang.
In an interview with Taloussanomat Björck reveals that he is opening a new Farang restaurant in Stockholm together with Wikberg and Kim Öhman. The restaurant is due to be opened in February 2013, and it can seat around 160 customers. The new enterprise will employ around 50 people.
The trio also considers opening up restaurants in other Nordic countries as well as in Britain.
— We are passionate what we are doing, and keen to show the world what we are capable of, Björck comments to Taloussanomat.
Farang opened in Helsinki in August 2009 after five years of planning and numerous trips to Southeast Asia. Prior to that Björck and Wikberg worked together at the Michelin-starred Chez Dominique in Helsinki. In past ten years Björck has also cooked in top-class restaurants in London and Sydney where he spent two years working as a chef at Longrain which is considered to be one of the best modern Asian restaurants in the world.
