Tieto strengthens its telecom competence in Russia

Tieto
Finnish IT service company Tieto continues strengthening its telecom competence in Russia by acquiring T&T Telecom operating in St. Petersburg and Moscow. T&T Telecom is an IT and consultancy company specializing in services for telecom operators.

Through the acquisition the number of Tieto’s Russian personnel rises to over 250 experts.

— The acquisition supports our growth strategy in Russia. It strengthens our local competencies and broadens our customer base especially in the telecom industry. It also creates a good platform for further growth in the telecom and media markets in Russia, says Tuomo Summanen, Country manager at Tieto Russia.

Tieto plans also to establish a 2000-3000 expert outsourcing and support team in Russia in the coming years.

— We have analyzed the Russian market during the past 12 months. As a result of this analysis we have been strongly encouraged by both Russian telecom companies as well as Russian Government to introduce a full set of infrastructure and services to the Russian market. The acquisition of T&T Telecom is a step forward in our plans, says Executive Vice President and Head of Tieto International, Pekka Viljakainen.
