SOK, a Finnish co-operative retail organisation, has opened a third Prisma Superstore in St. Peterburg, Russia. The supermarket is located in a busy office centre in the city's Moskovski neighbourhood. There are very few other grocery stores in the area, so the new Prisma will have an advantage of serving the neighbourhood's 250 000 inhabitants. The supermarket is 2800 square metres in size and employs 50 retail professionals.

A previously opened Prisma Superstore St. Petersburg is located right in the heart of the city while another Prisma has been opened in Noviy Deviatkino shopping mall. The fourth one will be opened in late summer 2009. The long terms plan of SOK is to open a total of 15- 20 Prisma superstores in St. Petersburg.

The executive director of SOK Retail Int. Vesa Punnonen says that the sales and customer numbers have exceeded all expectations. Positive feedback has flooded in from all the Prismas in St. Petersburg. Punnonen considers Prisma's competitive advantages in St Petersburg include reliability, a wide range of products, efficiency and easy shopping.
