The first Helsinki Global Chemicals Forum

Helsinki will receive an audience of chemistry specialists, who gather in Helsinki Conference Centre on 27th-29th of May.  

For the first time academic researchers, politicians, non-governmental bodies, human interest groups and representatives of industries get together in Helsinki to discuss global environmental challenges and the role of chemical industry in meeting these challenges.

The chairmen of the discussions on the theme-topics in the forum will be the Research Director of India, China and America Institute Dan Steinbock, the Director General of CEFIC Alain Perroy and editor of Chemical Matters -publication Hilfra Tandy.

The event will also host Finnish decision makers. Amongst the contributors are the Prime Minister of Finland Matti Vanhanen, Governor of the Bank of Finland Erkki Liikanen, Mayor of Helsinki Jussi Pajunen and the Minister of Economic Affairs Mauri Pekkarinen. The organizational body of the HCF consists of the European Commission, European Chemical Agency and Chemicals Forum Association. The domestic affiliates of the event are Finnish Chemical Industry, the University of Helsinki and the City of Helsinki.  
 
Helsinki Chemicals Forum will come together annually. It aims at bringing Helsinki into the spotlight as the world’s Chemical Capital, because of its role as holder of the European Union chemical depot.
