Teleste secures Chicago’s trains by new surveillance system

The Chicago Transit Authority has awarded a contract to the Finnish technology group Teleste for a system-wide security camera control and recording system covering 144 rail stations. The order value is approximately 3 million Euros.

The contract includes the supply, integration, and support of Teleste's VMX video management and network recording system to accommodate nearly 4,000 cameras at completion. The system deliveries to the United States will be completed by June 2010. The contract includes also two year's extended warranty service agreement.

Chicago Transit Authority aims at protecting the city's public against potential terrorism and crime by improving the surveillance of rail stations.
