Tallink transported over a million passengers in July

Lehtikuva/Sixten Johansson Tallink's passenger numbers on the Finland-Estonia route increased by nearly a quarter since July last year.

The passenger shipping company AS Tallink Group broke a million passenger record in the month of July. The record number of passengers, which was 1 054 087, was 16 per cent more than the passenger numbers in July last year.

Tallink transported over 433 000 passengers on the Finland-Estonia route in July. The growth was 23 per cent compared to the passenger numbers of July last year. The passenger numbers between Finland and Sweden grew by 11 per cent to over 424 000 passengers. The greatest relative growth, up to 61 per cent, took place on the route between Latvia and Sweden. Tallink carried over 75 000 passengers on the route in July.

- The growth in the passenger numbers indicates that our holiday offers and schedules are valued. On top of that the affordability of our destinations appeals to the passengers, says the Sales Director of Tallink, Pasi Näkki.

The passenger number on the route between Estonia and Sweden, which was approximately 100 000 passengers, remained more or less the same as in July year ago. However, traffic between Finland and Germany showed declining passenger numbers. The numbers were influenced by the fact that only two vessels were operated on the route instead of previous three.

In addition to passenger numbers, also the number of transported vehicles increased in July. Tallink transported a total of 132 577 passenger vehicles, which was 27 per cent more than last year. The recession was evident from the cargo units shipped. They decreased by 21 per cent in comparison to July last year.
