Soy plant to bring new jobs to Uusikaupunki

The factory which will be built over the next year and a half will bring more than 100 jobs to Uusikaupunki. The final location of the plant is still to be determined, but Orivo industrial area is a strong possibility.
The facility is to be built over the next year and a half with international financing. It will be one of the world's most modern soy factories. At the moment there are seven factories of its standard, two out of which are located in Europe. The factory will produce soy products for use as food, animal feed and biofuel.
The factory will bring life to the Hepokari port, since it will accommodate the annual transportation of some 400,000 tons of soybeans to the city of Uusikaupunki 70 kilometres north-west of Turku.
According to the daily newspaper Turun Sanomat a letter of intent for the soya processing plant has been signed already, details of which are to be published by the end of January.
