SOK continues to expand in Russia

SOK opens its fourth Prisma store in the Moscowskye region in St. Petersburg. In addition to the stores, SOK also operates three hotels in St. Petersburg. The Prisma chain is the market leader of the hypermarket trade in Finland.

Mowcowskye region is densely populated with more than 250,000 people living in the area.

- The lively traffic on the two streets is also a factor supporting the sales of the new Prisma: the Moskovskoye shosse has a traffic volume of as many as 50,000 vehicles per day and the Dunaisky Prospect almost 20,000 vehicles per day, says Vesa Punnonen, Corporation President of SOK Retail

SOK opened its first Prisma Supermarket in St. Petersburg on Nevski Prospect, in the centre of the city, in the summer of 2008. SOK is planning to open approximately 20 new Prisma stores in Russia in the future.

- Our start in St. Petersburg has been excellent. Our sales are at a good level, and we are continuing our investments in St. Petersburg. The competitive edge of Prismas in the St. Petersburg market stems from reliability, wide product selection, efficiency, and ease of shopping, Punnonen says.
