Software Point aims high on the Nordic market

Espoo-based Software Point, a specialist in laboratory data management and quality systems, has acquired Swedish LabIT Solutions. Through the acquisition Software Point is approaching its goal as the Nordic market leader in Laboratory Information Management Systems, LIMS.

By the acquisition Software Point aims to grow especially on the Swedish market and hospital laboratories. LabIT Solutions is a fully-owned subsidiary of VWR International AB. It is a Nordic LIMS vendor, which has provided LIMS solutions to industrial and hospital laboratories in the Nordic countries since the 1980s.

– By joining the expertise and competence of Software Point and LabIT, we will become the strongest LIMS company in Northern Europe, says CEO of Software Point, Andrea Holmberg.

Also the Managing Director for VWR International AB and chairman of the Board of LabIT Solutions AB, Lars Norlander is delighted about the acquisition.

– Software Point has long-term and deep expertise in laboratory information systems, and it is a well established operator on the Nordic LIMS market. It is also worth noting, that in addition to LabIT, Software Point is the only Nordic software provider operating both in the healthcare sector and with industrial and service laboratories, Norlander tells.

Established in 1992, Software Point has already acquired the Finnish laboratory business operations of Fujitsu Invia, and in the beginning of 2000 the company expanded its operations to all the Nordic countries through acquiring the business operations of Swedish Wilnor AB. The recently signed acquisition will increase the company’s personnel to 70 experts, 20 out of which work in Sweden.
