Sanoma buys exams company from Netherlands

Sanoma has extended its educational portfolio by buying Dutch Bureau ICE. Sanoma has extended its educational portfolio by buying Dutch Bureau ICE.

Sanoma Learning’s educational publisher Malmberg has acquired a Dutch testing and examination company Bureau ICE. The purchased company produces, tests and exams for secondary and vocational education in the Netherlands. It employs some 46 people.

— This is a next step on our strategy towards offering comprehensive learning solutions. The demand for tests and exams is rising, schools need good quality tools to monitor the development of their students, comments CEO Jacques Eijkens from Sanoma Learning.

According to Sanoma, the acquisition is in line with the company’s strategy to focus on learning. Sanoma is a diversified media group with information, education and entertainment products. The company employs around 11,000 people in some 20 countries throughout Europe. In 2011, the group's net sales totalled EUR 2.4 billion.
