Rautaruukki signs a 10 million euro bridge contract

Rautaruukki
Rautaruukki and NCC Construction Sverige have signed a 10 million euro contract for the delivery and installation of steel structures for a bridge to be built at Motala in Sweden.

Rautaruukki will have a strong role in design solutions for the 620-metre-long bridge. The Motala bridge is one of Sweden’s most demanding bridge projects and it will open for traffic in 2013.

– We have experience of a number of similar demanding bridge projects in the Nordic countries. In just under a year, we have signed delivery contracts for some twenty bridges in different countries, and thus strengthened our position as the leading steel contractor in the Nordic countries, says Sami Eronen SVP, Infrastructure and Northern Europe, Ruukki Construction.

Rautaruukki has already delivered steel structures for instance for road bridges and a railway bridge for the E6 road project in Sweden. The deliveries and installation of the Motala bridge structures will completed in 2011 and 2012.

With operations in 27 countries, Rautaruukki supplies metal-based components, systems and integrated systems to the construction and engineering industries. The Corporation uses the marketing name Ruukki.
