The construction of the new Primula production and logistics centre will commence this  summer in the town of Järvenpää, about 40 kilometres north of Helsinki. The construction work of the approximately 13 000 floor square metre project will begin immediately. The factory will start its production in early autumn 2010.

- This is a large scale recession prevention project, which reflects the long-span attitude to business development which characterizes Finnish family enterprises, says the Executive Manager of Primula, Juha Valkamo.

Primulan Herkkupaja, Primula delicatessen is a cooperational project between Primula and Pöyry, including production, logistics, sales and management operations as well as a lunch restaurant, café and bakery shop. The company, which was established in 1908 in Helsinki, works towards both, maintaining the old Finnish bread culture and bringing about new innovations within the bakery industry.

- Primula will have brilliant premises for developing its operations within the bread and convenience food market. The operational efficiency of Primulan Herkkupaja combined with ecological efficiency themes, such as small carbon footprint and the Leed-certification of the property will bring us differentiating and sustainable competition assets when the current recession turns into a new economic upswing in the upcoming years, says Valkamo.

The total value of the property investment is approximately 20 million Euros.
