Plug-in hybrid from Finland breaking through in the USA

Fisker Automotive

The Fisker Karma plug-in hybrid sports car will have its grand entrée in the U.S. in November. It will be the first rechargeable hybrid car on the American car market.

The hybrid will be manufactured in Finland. Production will start at the end of the year and take place in the southwestern harbour town of Uusikaupunki. The hybrid will be on the U.S. market by the second quarter of 2010, Tekniikka&Talous magazine reports.

Teija Åhlman, the head of public relations at Fisker's manufacturing associate Valmet Automation promises that pre-orders will receive a hundred car personalized batch.

Fisker Karma intends to demonstrate that a plug-in hybrid certainly isn't small and inefficient. The price is accordingly high. In Europe the hybrid costs 78,780 Euros, while in the United States the price is 87000 dollars. Fisker Automotive is expected to sell over ten thousand hybrids next year.
