Playmysong which is a crowdsourced music DJ’ing service has become a Spotify application. Playmysong mobile application allows users to remotely control the songs being played on a venue’s stereo system, while also simultaneously checking in to services such as Facebook.
Playmysong is essentially a modern update to the jukebox. At supported bars, restaurants, hotels, and other locations, the application lets users pull up their smartphones and pick the next songs to play off of the location's music library.The Arctic Startup website writes that Playmysong imagines Spotify addition to be great for weddings, theme parties, and also for paperless karaoke using Spotify's catalogue of karaoke songs.
Recently the Helsinki based start-up gathered seed funding totalling 350 000 US dollars. The funding round was led by Lifeline Ventures, a Helsinki-based accelerator focused on funding web and gaming startups and includes participation from Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation. According to Techcrunch website, Playmysong is opening an office in New York and heading out to San Francisco for meetings and other fund-raising efforts.
