Outotec gets 30 million Euros order from Mexico

Outotec is delivering a 30 million Euros project to Mexico. The company has signed a contract for a turn-key project with Mexicana de Cobre S.A. de C.V. for the modernization of La Caridad copper flash smelter which is located at Sonora, Mexico. The new smelter will be completed during the last quarter of 2013, and it will have a higher production capacity and energy-efficient metals recovery without increasing emission levels.

— We believe that with our local knowledge and global resource network, there are a various opportunities for sustainable smelter renovation and modernization jobs around the world, notes Outotec CEO Pertti Korhonen.

La Caridad copper smelter was built in the 1980s and it uses Outotec’s flash melting technology. Outotec will be in charge of refractory demolition, and will deliver equipment to the plant and the company will provide project and construction management, commissioning and start up supervision services.
