Outotec delivers copper processing technology to the mountains of Chile

Outotec´s delivery covers engineering, technology and proprietary equipment supplies, construction, commissioning and performance tests.
The Caserones copper plant will incorporate latest Outotec technologies, such as solvent extraction with Vertical Smooth Flow (VSF) technology and tank farm, as well as electrowinning using Outotec permanent cathode, acid mist capture and stripping technologies.
The delivery time for the plant is 30 months, and once in place it is designed to produce 30,000 tonnes of copper cathodes annually.
– Many mining companies are now exploring lower grade ore-bodies and are looking for technologies, which allow economical utilization of those resources. With an average copper grade of 0.34 percent, the Caserones deposit is a good example of this development, explains CEO of Outotec Pertti Korhonen.
According to Korhonen Outotec processes are well suited for situations such as this since they offer low energy consumption and minimum operating costs.
