Omena Hotels expands overseas

Lehtikuva/Pekka Sakki The unique Omena-hotel chain expands in Scandinavia.

Finnish hotel chain Omena Hotels expands overseas. The chain will open a new hotel in the centre of Copenhagen in June 2010. In addition to Denmark, new Omena -hotels will soon be opened also in Sweden and Norway. The company's aim is to continue expanding also to other European countries. Negotiations on business premises are currently held for instance in the Estonian capital city Tallinn and in Moscow, Russia.

The CEO of Omena Hotels, Mats Rosengård believes that Omena will succeed very well in the competitive accommodation market of Copenhagen. The lease signed by the hotel company comprises about 230 hotel rooms. Each room accommodates for four adults, which means that the entire hotel can host a total of 920 people at a time.

There are seven Omena concept hotels in Finland at the moment. The latest and biggest of them all was opened in Tampere on October 1st. The very first Omena hotel was opened in Tampere in October 2003. The company's aim is to have up to 30 hotels in Finland alone. The concept of Omena-hotel was invented by Rabbe Grönblom, the founder of the popular Kotipizza-restaurant chain.

Omena hotel has no reception desk. Checking in and out is computer-automated.
