Good News from Fri, 08 May, 2009:

New ice cream season starts in Finland

Ice cream hits the Finnish taste buds, reveals a new research by Ice Cream Manufacturer’s Association of Finland. Last year the consumption of ice cream reached nearly 70 million litres, which totals to about 13 litres per person. Finland is one of the biggest consumers of ice cream in Europe.

Especially warm weather invites the Finns to reach out for their tub of ice cream. About a half of the whole annual amount of ice cream is consumed during the summer months. The current forecast holds that the feast continues this summer. Up to 50 new kinds of ice cream will be introduced to the market this summer.

Ice cream attracts the impulsive shopper. Last year the sales of impulse ice cream rose, while take-home ice cream dropped to 51 percent of the ice cream sales. 76 percent of all the ice cream sold in Finland is full cream ice cream.
