Neste Oil prepared to manufacture biokerosine
Neste Oil, the producer of world's highest quality NExBTL -biodiesel believes that in the long run there is huge potential in the production of renewable aircraft fuels.
- Bio-Diesel Jet is definitely a possibility, and we already have the industrial-scale capacity to produce biokerosine for aircrafts, says the CEO of Neste Oil, Matti Lievonen in an interview by Tekniikka & Talous - magazine.
But first biodiesel needs to be approved as aircraft fuel and airlines that are willing to pay more than usual for their aircraft need to be identified. For this reason Lievonen doesn't believe that Bio-Diesel Jets will be a significant business sector any time in the near future.
However, within the world's car industry Neste Oil's NExBTL -diesel is a big thing. Neste Oil is in the process of becoming the world's leading producer of biodiesel. NExBTL is manufactured from renewable biomass sources ranging from palm oil to soya oil and from canola oil to sunflower seeds. Nest Oil confirms that it follows up on the entire chain of the raw material manufacturing process all the way from seed to the finalized product.
With the technology of Neste Oil vegetable oils, as well as fat and oil waste from food industry can be utilized in the production of the world's cleanest diesel. NExBTL- technology is a significant Finnish innovation, and it has been produced commercially since 2007. According to test NExBTL fuel performs excellently in both, car and truck engines.
NExBTL is very well suited for extremely cold climates. Neste Oil has tested its tolerance together with Shell for instance in the harsh winter climate of Canada. Frost tolerance is important especially in the markets of Northern Europe and North America.
- Our current production has been sold out to world's major oil companies. Even the big companies within the oil industry recognize us as forerunners in biodiesel, says Lievonen.
