Nanocomp has been awarded for nanophotonics expertise

Nanocomp Oy Ltd, the establisher of the nanophotonics sector in Finland, will receive this year's annual technology award of the Eastern Finland High Technology Foundation. The award values 10,000 Euros. Nanocomp is the only Finnish company in its field and it has also gained international reputation as a nanophotonics expert.
Close cooperation between Nanocomp and Joensuu Science Park, which has been on-going since the company started, has aided Nanocomp in becoming a global top expert in nanophotonics. Nanocomp found thus a close-by affiliate for optical research, product design, testing and manufacture of volume products in micro- and nanotechnology.
According to the CEO of Nanocomp Oy Ltd, Veli-Pekka Leppänen, cooperation with Joensuu Science Park and its diverse expert teams and the North Karelia Centre of Expertise have been very important to the company ever since it started.
- We have cooperated very effectively for instance with the marketing of Joensuu Science Park in getting through our own marketing struggles. Large international fair forums have opened up this way, and having taken part to the shared compartments of such fairs has been very rewarding, Lappalainen expresses his gratitude for the cooperation.
Nanocomp is a full service provider in the field of photonics. The company manages the entire process all the way from designing components for photonics to manufacturing them.
The term 'Photonics' stands for operations and applications, which utilize the controlled interaction between photon and matter on an atomic and molecular scale. The science of nanophotonics includes the generation, emission, transmission, modulation, signal processing, switching, amplification, detection and sensing of light.
Applications of photonics are ubiquitous. Included are all areas from everyday life to the most advanced science, e.g. light detection, telecommunications, information processing, lighting, metrology, spectroscopy, holography, medicine, military technology, laser material processing, visual art, biophotonics, agriculture and robotics.
