Music Kickstarter announces world’s first cloud-based record company

LEHTIKUVA / KIMMO MÄNTYLÄ Music Kickstarter is good news for anyone dreaming of a future in the music business: signing a record deal could be as easy as writing a blog.
Music Kickstarter has announced the world’s first cloud-based record company. The service is particularly directed towards semi-professional and amateur musicians.

Music Kickstarter is a social platform that can be used for creating music and for publishing and musical collaborations.  Operating on an annual fee and a turn-key principle, the company opens up a record company within the cloud that artists can use as their own.  The company will also handle all contracts, management of rights and contacts with the music industry.

The artist will get use of tools for music creation and musical collaboration.  The service will allow commercial publication and distribution  of music both digitally and physically.  It will also offer a platform for musicians to network with other players in the industry and to get help from other members.

With its artist-centred focus, Music Kickstarter promises to retain all rights to published material for the artists themselves.

The just-announced service is currently in a closed alpha version.  A closed beta version will be announced in March and it is planned to launch the open service in the autumn.
