MP Minna Sirnö the sexiest and family-friendliest MEP-candidate
VäestöliittoThe Finnish Family Federation has invited the Finnish MEP candidates to take part in a survey on sexual and reproductive health issues. The playful survey resulted in choosing Finland's "sexiest" and family-friendliest candidate. Surprisingly, the two winning awards were given to the same candidate, MP Minna Sirnö (Left Alliance).
The chief executive of the Family Federation, Helena Hiila explains that the winner showed interest in urging these important issues forward as a EU parliamentarian. Sirniö answered the questions in a manner, which brought out her exceptionally progressive and modern stance.
The questions in the "Sexiests MEP-candidate"-category revolved around issues of contraception, sexual edudation and the global maternity-health situation. The category of "the Family-Friendliest MEP-candidate" challenged the participants with questions on family benefits, immigration and birth rate in the EU region.
The survey was sent to all the MEP-candidates reachable by email. The response rate was 45 per cent. The survey was part of the "Who's the Sexiest Mep 2009"-campaign initiated by the International Planned Parenthood Federation IPPF. The campaign will be actualized in ten EU countries.
