Moventas delivers a power transmission solution to the USA

Moventas Moventas trusts in receiving more orders from the North American market.
Finland-based power transmission provider for wind turbines, renewable energy and other industries, Moventas, has signed a contract for the delivery of a mechanical power transmission solution to a large pulp drying machine in North Carolina, USA.

Moventas will provide Domtar Plymouth pulp mill an entire mechanical power transmission solution, with all mechanical components between electrical motors and rolls, and the planning of their layout. The contract is connected to a large machine rebuild, which transforms a fine paper machine into a pulp drying machine. The rebuild is in Finnish hands, since the main supplier for the machine rebuild is the Finnish engineering and technology group Metso.

According to SVP Ahti Ahonen, who is responsible for Moventas' industrial gears division, the market has clearly picked up since the beginning of the year, and the company has already signed several contracts for deliveries to different industry sectors.

– There is enormous capacity in paper production in North America, but new investments have died down in the last decades. This rebuild is a good example of the kinds of investments we expect to see more of in this market area, says Ahti Ahonen.

Moventas’ net sales in 2009 totaled 237 million euro. The company has approximately 1200 employees in eight countries.
