Moomin trolls take part in saving the Baltic Sea
Lehtikuva The clock is ticking and the Moomin trolls do their share in protecting the Baltic SeaTove Jansson's Moomin trolls will turn 65 next year. To commemorate the event, the beloved Moomins will begin a Nordic campaign together with numerous companies, proceedings from which will be donated to World Wildlife Foundation's Baltic Sea -work.
The Moomin anniversary celebration will start in December with the moomin65.com - website's Christmas calendar. On Christmas Eve the website will launch the biggest children's drawing competition in entire Scandinavia. The moomin65.com -website will be published in Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian and Danish.
The website will also have a Moomin Sea School. The Sea School will have a variety of different kinds of tasks, pictures and texts, which will help children to learn more about marine environments, including elements such as different animal and plant species and marine conservation. The Moomin Sea School will also be visible on Silja Line's cruise ships, during school holidays at Nantali Spa and throughout the summer season at Moomin World theme park in Naantali. The Moomin Sea School has been designed by WWF.
Within its involvement in the protection of the Baltic Sea environment, WWF Finland emphasizes the prevention of Eutrophication and oil leakages, and improvements in marine safety. WWF places great significance also to the conservation of endangered species and the nature of the archipelago and promotes sustainable fishing.
