Metso delivers containerboard production line to Manchester

Rabbitrecycling Saica’s new production line produces lightweight containerboard out of 100 percent recycled furnish.

Metso, a global engineering and technology group, will supply a lightweight containerboard production line to Saica Containerboard UK Ltd. at Partington Wharfside, in Trafford near Manchester, United Kingdom.

The production line is scheduled to open in 2012. The total value of the order is approximately 60 million euros. The annual production capacity of the machine will be approximately 400,000 tonnes of testliner and fluting out of 100 percent recycled furnish.

In addition to a complete paper machine, Metso's delivery will include an approach flow system, pulpers and air systems. The automation package will comprise process, machine and quality controls. Metso will also supply a process control system for the new combined heat and power station at the Partington mill.

Saica Containerboard UK Ltd. is a subsidiary of the Spanish family-owned SAICA, a world leader in the production of lightweight corrugated containerboard from recycled paper. The company employs over 8,000 people in Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Ireland and the UK. SAICA has an annual turnover of 2.2 billion euros.
