Metso delivers a biomass boiler to Scotland and two fine paper machine rebuilds to China

The delivery includes a circulating fluidized bed boiler and a flue gas treatment plant. The new power boiler will be part of a co-generation plant that will supply the paper mill of Tullis Russell with heat and electricity from biomass, mainly recycled wood. The plant will have an installed capacity of 50 megawatts and will replace the existing coal-fired power plant, reducing the CO2 emissions from the plant significantly.
- The new project is RWE's largest investment to date in biomass based power generation. It is part of our ongoing commitment to investing 1 billion Euros per annum in renewable energy, says Stephan Lohr, Head of Biomass at RWE.
RWE npower renewables is one of the UK’s leading renewable energy developers and operators. The company is committed to developing and operating biomass power plants, wind farms and hydro plants to produce sustainable electricity.
Metso has also published its latest orders to China. The company will supply two fine paper machine rebuilds for Shandong Chenming Paper Holdings Limited’s subsidiary mills in China. The total value of the orders is approximately 10 million Euros.
Metso will also deliver upgrades to Wuhan Chenming Hanyang Paper in Wuhan, Hubei province and Shouguang Chenming Art Paper in Shouguang, Shandong province. The rebuilt paper machine at Wuhan is scheduled to start up in late 2010 and the machine at Shouguang in 2011.
