These cities are developed and implemented together with the Chinese authorities and landowners. The systems will help people to manage their own health information, and follow up on their own condition for instance by measuring their own blood pressure and blood sugar levels and transmitting them electronically to the health professionals. This personal digital data store is called Personal Health Record (PHR). The citizens will also have access to as wide range of electronic healthcare services as possible.
Medixine Ltd. has the responsibility of co-concepting the eHealth framework for the DigiEcoCities. The project will also include the establishment of a network of Finnish operators that have the capacity to deliver the necessary IT systems for the Chinese cities and their healthcare professionals.
The planning of the project is already on its way. The construction work of the first city is planned to start in May this year, and the next city in 2011. The eHealth system is expected to be operational from 2012 onwards.
