Medbase signs an important international contract
Italian Elsevier Masson, a world's leading publisher of science and health information, has chosen the Finnish SFINX database into its repertory. The drug interaction database has been developed by Medbase Ltd. The publisher produces for instance the Italian equivalent to the Finnish Pharmaca Fennica and maintains a medicine register.
Medbase Ltd is a Finnish company, formed by experts in pharmacotherapeutics, which produces medical databases to health care professionals to safeguard effective and safe clinical use of drugs.
The Italian publisher has expressed its interest also on other Medbase products.
- The guiding star of our databases, the drug interaction database SFINX has achieved a great success in Finland. Now is the right time to pursue also the international markets and in this the business incubator has offered us significant assistance, says the CEO and owner at MedBase, Kari Laine.
The company, which strives to the international markets with assistance from the business incubator of the Turku Science Park, has produced its database on the basis of Finnish-Swedish cooperation. The copyright of the database belongs to Medbase Ltd in Finland, the Karolinska Institute Department of Clinical Pharmacology in Stockholm, Sweden and the Division of Drug Management and Informatics at Stockholm County Council, Sweden.
- We have just extended our contract of cooperation until the end of 2012. In addition to that Medbase will have the copyright of the database even in case this cooperation ends at some point. We will also agree more closely on our policies of international trade, so that the background and continuing development of our products will be sufficiently secured, Kari Laine points out.
