Matti Alahuhta receives ’European Manager of the Year 2009 Award’

Matti Alahuhta, the CEO of KONE has been presented the ”European Manager of the Year 2009 Award” by the European Business Press EBP. The award is presented annually to an influential professional chosen by members of the EBP.

Alahuhta is considered as a commendable visionary and an outcome-oriented leader, who has done outstanding work in developing KONE into one of the leading companies in the industry. The previous years have seen the increase in KONE’s market share in Asia-Pacific and North America, as well as increasing its profitability. Alahuhta was also acknowledged for his ability to develop and coach teams and create an inspiring and ambitious spirit within the company.

The acknowledgement was presented to Alahuhta at KONE General Assembly in Helsinki on Friday June 12th. The award was presented by Matti Vanhanen, the Prime Minister of Finland and Rik De Nolf, the President of the European Business Press.
 
EBP consist of 55 leading European business newspapers and magazines in 28 countries. The European manager of the Year Award has been presented since 1991. Among the previous recipients have been for instance personalities such as Jorma Ollila of Nokia, Ingvar Kamprad of Ikea and Wendelin Wiedeking, the CEO of Porsche
