Marimekko, the Finnish design house, showed its first collection in New York fashion week on Monday. The Marimekko debut has received positive international press with Euronews commenting on its video that the Marimekko dresses on the catwalk looked like “pop art paintings.”
The Examiner wrote that the Marimekko first ever New York fashion week appearance had “high energy that did not disappoint.” The US based media company described Marimekko’s collection as “easy, breezy shift dresses were a staple of this collection as well were relaxed cuts and comfortable clothes.” According to the US based Global Post which mainly quoted other sources the Finnish design house “made a splash” at the fashion week.
The British the Telegraph gave also Marimekko thumbs up, and wrote that the company’s show “turned out to be one of the week's most pleasurable collections.”
According to the paper, the simply cut and comfortable clothes “proved the perfect canvas for this businesses' wonderful catalogue of colourful prints.” The paper also welcomed the Finnish design house to London Fashion week implying that it has plans to come to London “soonish”.
