Magisso - From a design concept to a finished product
magisso The magnetic kitchen cloth holder combines Finnish functionalism with Scandinavian design flair.A successful company can even be born out of the sight of a kitchen cloth draped over a tap. That sight grated on Miika Mansikkamaa's nerves for so long, he came up with the solution. Today his innovative and patented kitchen cloth holder is a global product.
The raw idea that came to him in 2006 of a magnetic kitchen cloth holder was turned into a finished product in eighteen months. The holder attaches to the sink by means of two magnets.
- It's a simple, yet functional invention, says Miika Mansikkamaa, Managing Director of Magisso Oy.
In addition to the kitchen cloth holder, the company has also launched the Magisso cake slice designed by Maria Kivijärvi. Made from stainless steel and finished by hand, this cake slice was the Red Dot Design Award 2010 winner in March.
The design production company Magisso designs and markets on a global scale new, innovative products that simplify our daily lives, as well as other, unique design products.
- Our product range will be complemented during 2010 by new products. Our idea is to take Finnish inventors and designers' ideas and turn then into saleable products in as short a time as possible.'
The growth-confident company's products are currently exported already to more than ten countries.
- We work on the basis that nine out of every ten euros we earn come from international markets. And the feedback we've been receiving has extremely positive.
The present product range also includes anti-bacterial micro-fibre cloths as well as cellulose-based, washable and recyclable kitchen cloths.
- Using our patented technique we can print 4-colour patterns across the whole surface of our kitchen cloths, notes Mr Mansikkamaa.
